BB Creams: What's With The Craze?

I'm sure by now you've heard of "BB creams." unless you've been stuck under a rock somewhere but it is the biggest craze to happen to the Western hemisphere since Lady Gaga's meat outfit.

What exactly is a "BB" cream?
I asked myself the same question time and again...like what's the big deal? It's a tinted moisturizer. Big whoop!! Oh, but there is a big whoop, according to makeup guru's everywhere.

Beauty balms or as its most popularly referred to - BB creams are designed to protect skin and still provide the same amount of coverage as a foundation or powder. The first beauty balm was made in Germany by Dr. Chrisitne Schrammeck in the 1960's- meant to be used post surgery. It wasn't until the 1980's that BB creams hit Korea with Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm that set this craze in motion. They quickly spread through Asia before reaching it's incredible peak in the U.S. just last summer.

The balms are meant to provide the same amount of coverage as a former friend - the tinted moisturizer but less heavier coverage than your typical full coverage foundation and concealer - many of which boast of additional added benefits. BB creams are supposed to nurture, prime, conceal and protect. Most of the better ones have infused anti-aging serum, anti-inflammatory agents, sunscreen protection, tone-evener for redness, dark spots and blemishes - all while moisturizing. Over time, they promise to rejuvenate kin and brighten complexion.

Now that's a product worth buying!!

I've purchased several BB creams in the past month to try and review for you guys!
I heard the best one is the Garnier BB Crean which I have yet to find in a shade close to my skin tone. It is always sold out..My area has a lot of caramel skin toned people.. :) Once, I do I will review the three that I've purchased - Maybelline Dream BB Cream, L'real Youthcode BB Cream and the Garnier BB cream..(when I find it!)

Go out and try one. Every drugstore brand and high end brand have their own version.
Let me know by posting on my FB wall or tweeting me which one you tried and which one was the best for you!

  6. I love this stuff. I finally decided to try Bobbi Brown's BB Cream (a little pricier, but oh-so worth it), and I'm obsessed. I don't even wear foundation anymore. Stopping by from SITS, and glad I stumbled upon your blog! :) I'd love for you to drop by my blog and visit if you get the chance. Hope you had a great weekend!
