I've had my stint of "I'm too tired to exercise today!" I was going to ignore that and keep on going but here's why sometimes you should not!
It could be ANEMIA!
If you are already exercising and find you are approaching your daily workout with excessive fatigue and lack of motivation, see your doctor and check your iron levels because it can be a case of anemia. Your doctor will do a blood test and check to see if your iron levels are normal and your body is pumping blood at a normal pace. Anemia is considered slow traveling blood and the more the body has to work hard to pump this slow blood, the more you will feel fatigued.
Give your body a rest.
If you've been working out for 5 days straight, fatigue is your body's way of telling you, relax PLEASE! Take the day off. The point of exercising is to make it a way of life so be realistic and schedule your work out as well as your off days! Your body will thank you for it!
Taxing day at the office.
It's hard to have a rough day at the office and come home to think you will exercise or go directly after work. Some people prosper with this and others do not, so if it makes you feel better, wake up thirty minutes before your alarm goes off and get your exercise session on! This can help you feel more energized and motivated throughout the day.
Not feeling motivated?
Change your exercise routine or change your scenery. Go to another gym included in your membership. Walk with a friend if you've always walked alone. Go to another park or change the neighborhood you walk in.
Lighten the workout.
Sometimes our bodies feel fatigued and we may want to exercise a little anyway. Instead of doing your usual, vigorous 30 minute workout, bring down the intensity level by just one notch. If you really feeling tired, tell yourself you'll only work out for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes have passed, you may end up continuing anyway.
Today, was one of these days. I was so fatigued from last night and realized that I suffer from anemia and I have been working out for 6 days straight. So I took the day off but did a little morning walk anyway - just a little less vigorous at 2.5 miles per hour instead of the 4.1 and 20 minutes instead of the 35!
BEST ADVICE: DON'T BURN YOURSELF OUT OR YOU WILL DROP THE EXERCISE!
